               Endangered Animals

A species is considered

endangered if it falls into one of the following categories: a 50–70% population decline over ten years, a geographic spread of fewer than 5,000 km2, an adult population size of less than 2,500, or a statistical prediction that the species will become extinct within the next twenty years. The most prevalent causes of species endangerment are habitat loss, foreign species invading their environment, disease, hunting, pollution, and loss of genetic variation. The majority of these causes are the result of human activity (Hogeback). In 2022, 41,415 species are now considered endangered. These species are expected to become extinct within the next ten years or three generations (The 10 Most Endangered Animals in 2022). There have been 467 species to be declared extinct in the last decade. It is critical for all species to survive as they each play a crucial role in the ecosystem's biodiversity. Taking out one species can disrupt the food chain, remove a natural stabilizer, remove nourishers, slow the supply of oxygen and clean air, cause pollution of plants and water, and cause a slew of other issues that will ultimately hurt humanity and our planet (Why Is Biodiversity Important? ).
